Homegrown Golfers
We all know San Diego County is home to some great golf courses - 92 and counting, in fact. But did you know that San Diego is also known for its homegrown and resident golfing talent? Yep. And the list of past and present golfers is like a who's who of PGA and LPGA golf royalty.
Torrey Pines Municipal
The holy grail for golfers in San Diego, Torrey Pines Municipal is host to the PGA Buick Invitational, and in 2008 will host the U.S. Open. Tee times are about as easy to get as shooting par. But it's worth the hassle. The newly renovated South Course is a brutal beast. Not for beginners.
Singing Hills CC
One of the nicest layouts around, Singing Hills is located in East County and boasts three courses: Willow Glen, Oak Glen and the par-3 Pine Glen. Very reasonable rates for a first-class venue.
Coronado Municipal
One of the best bargains in the county, this scenic, flat course can be tough, both to play and to get a tee time
Balboa Municipal
Another great bargain for residents, Balboa Municipal doesn't have the glamour of Torrey Pines, but is a deceptively tough course. Beware of the canyons and coyotes!
